Dr. Jay Hodgson, Ph.D
Position: Technical Advisor

Dr. Jay Hodgson is a renowned and highly respected exploration geologist with over 40 years of experience in precious and base metal deposits. Dr. Hodgson was Chief Geologist for Barrick Gold Corp. from 1996 to 2006 where he was responsible for Barricks' worldwide exploration programs, including the discovery and acquisition of several world-class gold deposits such as the Pierina and Lagunas Norte gold deposits in Peru. From 1972 to 1995, Dr. Hodgson was Professor of Economic Geology at Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, where he supervised over 50 Ph.D and M.Sc. research thesis on a wide variety of ore environments, and published over 45 scientific articles on economic geology and exploration. During the latter half of his term at Queens, Dr. Hodgson specialized in mesothermal gold deposits, offering numerous short courses to industry, universities and government organizations. In return for his contribution to the Geosciences, he was awarded the Duncan R. Derry Medal in 1995 by the Geological Association of Canada for "outstanding contributions to the science of economic geology in Canada". In 1996 Dr. Hodgson was awarded the A. O. Dufresne Award from the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy for "outstanding contributions to economic geology and the minerals industry over the last 20 years", particularly with regard to greenstone gold and volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits. Dr. Hodgson is a graduate of McGill University (1957) and earned his Ph.D in 1965 from the University of California in Berkeley. Dr. Hodgson is currently Chairman of Murgor Resources Inc. (TSX-MGR.V).
